San Diego’s Fashion Valley Mall is opening its latest large-format charging station.
The station is being opened through Electrify America, the largest public electric vehicle charging network in the nation per its website, making it the company’s 1,000th charging station. The station features 20 hyper-fast chargers capable of speeds up to 350 kilowatts, 24-hour access, on-site security and easy access to the mall.
People charging their vehicles at Fashion Valley can use the Electrify America mobile app to track their charging session and set up notifications that alert them when their session is over.
“Our 1000th charging station marks a significant milestone for Electrify America and
reinforces our commitment to convenient EV charging,” Robert Barrosa, president and chief executive officer of Electrify America, said.
“In just over six years, our team has rapidly built an open hyper-fast charging network across 47 states, the District of Columbia and seven Canadian provinces to drive confidence in electric vehicles as the preferred choice for personal transportation.”
Fashion Valley’s part owner, Simon Property Group, now has more than 85 Electrify America charging stations on their properties across the U.S., according to Daniel Segal, vice president of business development.
“Having Electrify America’s hyper-fast chargers on-site, along with Fashion Valley’s premier shopping, dining, and entertainment options in the San Diego market, creates a convenient all-in-one destination for our shared customers to shop, work, dine and play,” Segal said.
People with eligible EVs can charge at Electrify America’s Plug&Charge network after enrolling in their vehicle’s premium offer through Electrify America. This network allows drivers to plug in and begin charging without needing a wallet, phone or bank card.
According to Electrify America, the company delivered more than 10 million charging sessions in 2023, dispensing about 380 gigawatt hours of energy.
The company also announced that it plans to reach 5,000 hyper-fast public and commercial chargers by the end of 2024.
